Precious diamond

Kohinoor diamond is the world’s biggest and the most expensive diamond. The exquisite piece of jewellery is now a part of the crown jewels in London. Here are some facts which you did not know about it. The 793 karat diamond was mined in India near the Golconda region, when the Kakatiya dynasty was reigning supreme.   Mohammed Shah gave the diamond it’s name Kohinoor which means “mountain of light.” Later Nadir Shah who invaded the Mughals in 1739 got hold of the Kohinoor and took it to Iran.   The Kohinoor was handed by Shah Shuja (a descended of Nadir Shah) to King Ranjit Singh of Punjab.   After the Anglo-Sikh war in 1849 Lord Dalhousie confiscated all the all property of the Sikh empire including the Kohinoor.   The diamond was taken to Great Britain and was handed over to the queen in the year 1850. The queen then got it re-cut and shaped in the year 1852. There is a curse on the diamond which states that “only God or a woman can wear it with impunity.”

Music  is an  art  form whose  medium  is  sound  and  silence . Generally, a  song  is considered the smallest standalone work of music, especially when involving  singing . To many people in many cultures, music is an important part of their way of life.  Ancient Greek  and  Indian philosophers  defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer  John Cage  thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."                                                                                                                   Music therapy  is an interpersonal process in which the therapist uses music and all of its facets—physical, emotional, mental, social, aesthetic, and spiritual—to help clients to i

Sci-Fi Cloaking Device Could Protect Soldiers from Shock Waves A researcher at the defense company Boeing has filed a patent for a sci-fi-esque cloaking device that would protect soldiers from intense shock waves generated by explosions. The just-issued patent (No. 8,981,261) to Boeing envisions stopping shock waves using a veil of heated, ionized air. Such a "shield" would damp  the force of explosions . It doesn't build an invisible wall of force, but rather makes shock waves bend around objects, just as some high-tech materials bend light and make things invisible. Brian J. Tillotson, a senior research fellow at Boeing, said the idea occurred to him after noticing the kinds of injuries suffered by soldiers who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
